MAKING THE SHIFT

Yes Guys, I am making a shift. Not the role of the Job I am doing but the company that I work for.Its has been a good span of couple of years in one of the world’s fastest growing company “Cognizant Technology Solutions” that made me undergo a tremendous change in me as a human being. There is a good side to it as well as a bad side to it.But those things I would like to keep it with me since its ultra personal..Just Kidding.

Now I would like to highlight some important aspects that comes in to consideration while shifting to a new company.I felt it to be an easy task but when being in to the real scenario, its not just that easy. The main factor is the Notice period that we have to survive in the old company before we join the new firm. This is actually I say the period which transforms us from an old enviornment to a completely new enviornment.During this period we need to make sure not to affect the morale of the employees of the current firm byboosting about the new offer that you got.

Always do keep in mind that all neccessary papers including the letter of relieving would be handed over to usonly on our final day of the notice period. Moreover that our current employer is the one who gave us bread tilltoday from the date of joining the firm eventhough there is a famous quote from India’s former President Abdul Kalam that,
‘Never love a company because you never know when the company hates you’.

Some people find it harder to deal with change than others. For the faint of heart, the prospect of switching jobs creates a sense of unease so overwhelming that they will remain in an unhappy work situation rather than face the unknown. These individuals often need an external force to “convince” them to move on. They can only be nudged out of their chairs by the likes of a layoff, salary freeze, or the prospect of relocation. They tend to be motivated by income necessity and lifestyle convenience issues, rather than by the pursuit of opportunities to advance their careers.

So along with doing all the formalities with the current employer it begins the set of joining formalities to be completed forthe new employer. So this span of period requires little work and attention from our end for everything to happen smooth. But there is a special joy in doing those fromalities which is the resultant of curiosity in us created by thinking about the new joband the benefit we are going to gain out of it.

My Profession

My Profession is my Passion, Yes correct I would like things to be like that but what to do the situation currently is not the same. How enjoyable our life would be if the thing that we like the most in the world is our ‘PROFESSION‘.

No wonder there is a saying:-

If you want to be happy for a day, go on a picnic.
If you want to be happy for a week, go on a vacation
If you want to go happy for a month, get married
If you want to be happy for a year, inherit wealth
If you want to be happy for a lifetime, do the work that you love.

Exploring what kind of professon is most appropriate and working towards it
is no easy task .I have been exploring what suits me the best for the past couple
of years but not yet able to be on the right track.

Getting caught in a wrong profession is more like the ‘football player in a hockey field’ or ‘square peg in a round hole’. I feels like our lifebeing dragged like anything. So its always correct to say that the growth of a person in his profession is directly proposional to the extent to which he/she enjoys her work.

I always wonder seeing the enthusiasm and energy in some of the managers in my company. Those kind of employees are actually the corner stones in the growth of the company. They are stuck to the company not through any finacial bonds but through emotional bondings.

To build a successful career is everyone’s dream. Forbes magazine have listed out cetains

Thirst For Money

The Title for this blog is itself the greatest definition to know the value of money.
The words are coming out from an adult who is just starting to earn an income for livelihood.
My approach towards money or the kind of thought that would run through my mind when I get a good amount of money tend to change as I grow up.

When I was a kid ,an amount of 10 rs was a lot amount for me. As I grew up and reached my high schooling an amount of 100 rs was a good amount for me.

During Graduation, An amount of 1000 seems to be reasonable amount.

Now after my education, when I start to earn money, this is when the thirst for money starts.I am earning 25000 rs /- per month and still wants more just to make some savings in bank account so that my eye get filled when it reaches a reasonable amount.

Money can do magic, It can built relationships as well as break relationship .

A sudden stop of income for atleast a month can have a tremondous effect on people like me since I have been in situations like that. I had to debt from my mother(housewife) her only savings of rs 20000 that I haven’t yet given back to her even after started to earn the income after a small break.

If I, a 25 year old guy can write these many things about money, how about a person who is 60 or 70 years of age. Money comes, it goes and this process occurs infinetly throughtout our life.

People from Lebanon use to have a wonderful sayings,

“He who has money can eat ice cream in hell.” , Its true right.

Also another intresting quote is ,

“Empty pockets never held anyone back. Only empty heads and empty hearts can do that.”

One of the intresting site I have found regarding money is this,

http://mindmillion.com/

Another important quote that is worth sharing from the above given site is

“The greatest reward in becoming a millionaire is becoming the kind of person that you
have to become to become a millionaire.”

Kalaripayuttu – The Mother Of All Martial Arts

Kalaripayuttu

Kalaripayuttu is an ancient form of Martial art that took birth in the Gods Own country “KERALA”(I am proud of that since I am from Kerala)
I love this art like anything eventhough circumstances allowed me to get trained in Kalari for just a span of two months while I was in
college.

I will cover the following topics about Kalaripayuttu,

History of kalari payuttu.
Techniques in kalaripayuttu.
Facts about Kalari Payuttu

History of kalari payuttu.

Kalaripayattu is believed to be the fore-runner of Martial arts such as Judo, Karate and Tae-kwon-do.It is said to have originated in the 12th century AD and the word Kalaripayattu translates as ” Combat inside the arena “. This tradition still continues and is conducted in specially constructed arenas or Kalaris where this art is taught by the Gurukkal or the master.
Kalaripayuttu, in particular traces its origin from the time the state itself was created.

Techniques in kalaripayuttu.

Crafted in ancient South India drawing inspiration from the raw power and sinuous strength of the majestic animal forms – Lion, Tiger, Elephant, Wild Boar, Snake, and Crocodile …….. Kalaripayattu laid down the combat code of the Cholas, the Cheras and the Pandyas. Shrouded in deep mystery and mists of secrecy Kalaripayattu was taught by the masters in total isolation, away from prying eyes.

BEGINNERS LEVEL – Understanding Stance and Structure.
This is a prerequisite session for beginners in Kalaripayattu and usually stretches for three months. It introduces body conditioning exercises, stretching, basic hand and leg techniques, stances, and stepping.
This exposure gives the new member a better foundation in order to enter into the advanced level in Kalaripayattu and focuses on achieving the skill to adopt certain stances which are broadly classified into two – ‘Chuvadu and Vadivu’.

Chuvadu is a position of the feet while Vadivu is a position of the posture of the body, keeping the chuvadu as its basis.

SECOND LEVEL
After the completion of the first level a Kalaripayattu trainee graduates on to Meipayattu (meaning the use of body). It is a series of exercises, in 18 different lessons designed to achieve peak physical fitness and flexibility of the body.
They include specific exercise for legs, hips, hands and the torso.
In the second level, the training includes acrobatics, different types of flips and kicks.

WEAPON COMBAT

Training in weapons begins at the intermediate level, when there is a better understanding of the mechanics of movement and improved coordination. A weapon becomes an extension of one’s body and a further test of one’s skill. This supplementary program enhances the understanding of the principles and concepts in martial arts and ultimately develops better execution in all movements. Weapons are taught in form sequences to responsible individuals. The training with weapons commences with cane weapons; the trainee graduates to using the Short Stick (Cheruvadi), Curved Stick (Ottakkol), Mace (Gada), Dagger (Kattaram).
Once the dagger fighting has been mastered, the trainee starts on the most glamorous of combats in kalaripayattu – fighting with the sword and shield. Finally Urumi (six feet length flexible sword) – is taught as the fitting finale to perfection in the art of Kalaripayattu. This is the most dangerous weapon in the Kalari system other than your own body.

Facts about Kalari Payuttu

There is a kind of treatment exclusive to this art called Kalari chikilsa which is a type of oil massage similar to traditional Ayurveda but which evolved for the specific needs of the performers.
KalariPayuttu is said to be the ‘Mother of All Martial Arts’ and the origin of Kunfu is said to be from Kalari Payuttu.

I am thrilled about my latest plan to start going for kalari training in chennai at ‘Shaji Kalari Centre’.The classes are being scheduled on Tuesdays and Saturdays, hope that I will make up to office on time during Tuesdays.

I AM ALIVE

I am Alive because my mother gave birth to me
because I got care while growing up from my parents.
because I got medication when  required.
finally in short because of fate.

When I sit infront of the desktop in office without much to do, this single
thought of “I am alive” made me think lot.

Apart from that I have mentioned above, there are millions of reason we can put forward
for why I am alive right now, right this moment. This means we have millions of reasons to cherish that we are alive this moment. But why can’t we do so?  Look at the picture I have shown above..really that person is really cherishing. There is a famous quote that comes to my mind now,

Don’t send me flowers when I’m dead. If you like me, send them while I’m alive“.

Yes ofcourse those lines are really meaningful. To be happy is what everyone are striving for, but for need of “to be alive” people tend to sacrifice there happiness which ends up to be a worthless living i.e lived for the sake of living.
Charles darwin have made an important quotation that we all have learnt during our schooling..,“Survival of the fittest“.
Everyone at least once in his lifetime would have thought like he cannot survive because he cannot meet up to the mark of his collegues performance or cannot rise up to the need of society. I am just 25 years of age and within this short span of life I have felt a 100 times the same thought I have mentioned above.

Another impotant proverb that comes to my mind is ‘what you sow is what you ripe’ i.e I guess eveyone one has understood this, what you give is what you get.

Thus I am winding up my small post on ‘I am alive’ with a humble request
which should be followed by me too, Start sowing seeds of goodness as we grow up so that we can ripe and enjoy the fruit for life long.

I am Alive now this moment and dont know what happens

next moment, so be happy each moment.

Cloud Computing – The Upcoming Trend In Internet Computing..

In this section I am going to explain regarding the latest trend in computing called cloud computing. In simple terms cloud computing can be compared to that of Electtricity grid.Without the knowledge of how electricity is produced and transmitted, common man gets the electricity as a service by paying monthly electricity bills. Similarly Cloud computing is the delivery of computing as a service rather than a product, whereby shared resources, software, and information are provided to computers and other devices as a utility (like the electricity grid) over a network (typically the Internet).

The analogy to be used for cloud computing is , ‘If you need milk , would you buy a cow ?’ All the users or consumers need is to get thebenefits of using the software or hardware of the computer like sending emails etc. Just to get this benefit (milk) why should a consumer buy a (cow) software /hardware ?

Cloud computing providers deliver applications via the internet, which are accessed from web browsers and desktop and mobile apps, while the business software and data are stored on servers at a remote location.
Cloud computing are of various type depending upon the service provided by it.
The various kind of Clouds include..
Public cloud
Community cloud
Hybrid cloud
Private cloud

Amazon Web Services is the largest public cloud provider. It provides a lot of services through the internet that includes the following,

Application Hosting
Backup & Storage
Content Delivery
Databases
E-Commerce
Enterprise IT
High Performance Computing
On-Demand Workforce
Media Hosting
Search Engines
Web Hosting

Now let us see where the actual implementation of Cloud computing comes to play…..

Let’s say you’re an executive at a large corporation. Your particular responsibilities include making sure that all of your employees have the right hardware and software they need to do their jobs. Buying computers for everyone isn’t enough — you also have to purchase  software or software licenses to give employees the tools they require. Whenever you have a new hire, you have to buy more software or make sure your current software license allows another user. It’s so stressful that you find it difficult to go to sleep on your huge
pile of money every night.
Soon, there may be an alternative for executives like you. Instead of installing a suite of software for each computer, you’d only have to load one application. That application would allow workers to log into a Web-based service which hosts all the programs the user
would need for his or her job. Remote machines owned by another company would run everything from e-mail to word processing to complex data analysis programs. It’s called cloud computing, and it could change the entire computer industry.

The one who benefits actually from cloud computing are Small and Medium Sized Bussinesses.Users with limited budgets and limited knowledge about technology infrastructure can get support for all their business needs through Cloud computing.Cloud computing brings the same technology used by big business to SMBs with low costs and simple scalability.
Applications are available for just about anything you could dream up.The IT world is changing, and SMBs are now able to compete like never before.
Finally before we finish, To understand cloud computing, the best website should be Wikipedia.

From College to the real world

Image

One might feel the title of this blog to be an ordinary one. I have read a number of articles that discuss this topic in which some tells that college is a stage in our real life whereas others tell that its actually a break from the real life. Before writing this blog I have searched in google for a suitable Pic that depicts the title given and the search word I used goes like “In to real world” , “wisdom” , “aim” , “real world”. But none was able to satisfy me.Finally the word that helped me is “Transistion” . Yes guys its a transistion , a Mega power volt trasistion that determines
our destiny.

There is a lot of mental aspects to be considered when we discuus this topic. What I feel is that till the end of college days  we are always driven by our aims that shifts periodically i.e we think of what to become in life. But once the college life ends, our world starts to get wider. More than our aims there are some more things to be injected as part of our life. This includes money and relationships which are the basic necessities for the living in a
society. Integrating these two things in to our life at the same time running after our aim needs immense hardwork and this is what I meant by Transition according to my understanding. The first step you want to take is acknowledging the fact that you’re
making a transition.

Frankly speaking I am Currently moving through the trasition phase of my life . I am facing a lot of issues now like figuring out what you’re going to do with your future and all. This is when I actually planned to read articles that helps me in this phase and creating a blog with the information that I have collected would help many of the friends like me.

I believe the difference is the people around you when you’re studying, and the people around you when you’re working. People who program while studying do things differently when they program for a livelihood.During this period there will
be times when we feel like the entire world would be coming against us.

In the final analysis, post-college depression is a very common phenomenon, but it needn’t turn into a huge problem. As long as you stay focused, active, and positive, you’ll soon get over the shock of jumping into the “real world” quickly and painlessly..

The QUOTIENT that matters…….EQ – EMOTIONAL QUOTIENT.

Emotional Quotient

So Guys take my word, this blog is going to be extremely informative both for those who are unaware of what EQ ( Emotional Quotient otherwise called Emotional Intelligence) is and also for those having the knowledge of this particular Quotient.
Now let me switch to the area of concentration. Also I am trying to put in my thoughts and assumptions in to words and there could be cases where my assumptions could go wrong. Obvioulsy a lot of info would also be flooded in from the internet too.

The actual definition of EQ goes like this..

EQ is the subset of social intelligence that involves the ability to monitor one’s own and others’ feelings and emotions, to discriminate among them and to use this information to guide one’s thinking and actions. Some researchers suggest that emotional intelligence can be learned and strengthened, while other claim it is an inborn characteristic.

Hence Emotional Quotient of a person is the measure of the following attributes . This includes ,

  • Empathy
  • Motivation
  • Self-Esteem
  • Decision Making
  • Commitment
  • Interpersonal Awareness

If you are intrested in identifying what is your level off Emotional Intelligence then there are a lot of websites available where we just have to answer some simple set of questions.

Test on Eq is available on follwoing Link http://www.ihhp.com/quiz.php .
I have checked it for my EQ and I am happy to know that I have an above average EQ . Though these sites do not provide an exact measure of your EQ, it can inturn give
you an approximate measure and can have an understanding of how EQ is measured.

Nowadays the human resource department of most of the companies are taking intense care in identifying people with high EQ since these are the people who really matters when it comes to handling people.

Ipl Fever……Kochin Tuskers Are Coming

Kochi Tuskers Home Ground

This year, the fourth edition of Ipl (Indian Premier League) is so very
Special for the keralites. The main reason behind it is the simple reason that the Kochin team named “Kochi Tuskers Kerala” is also included this year.
The inclusion of the Kochin team was after a long fuzz regarding the Franchise ownership and finally some how managed to be part of the IPL. But I am not at all happy with the Squad thati s selected to play. Here comes the team,

DOMESTIC

S Sreesanth, VVS Laxman, R P Singh, Parthiv Patel, Ravindra Jadeja

Ramesh Powar, Vinay Kumar, Vincent Gomez, Kedar Jadhav, Tanmay Srivastava

Deepak Chougule, Sushant Marathe, Yashpal Singh

INTERNATIONAL

Mahela Jayawardene, Brendon McCullum, Steven Smith, Muttiah Muralitharan

Brad Hodge, Thisara Perera, Steve O’Keefe, Michael Klinger, John Hastings, Owais Shah

Also we have a huge stadium “The Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium” that will host the Kochin Matches is a matter of joy for all the cochi people. After it has been built , if my guess is right, only about 4 or 5 international matches are held in this stadium. Rest all are some unimportant domestic matches.

kochi-Tuskers-kerala Logo

The initial name for the Kochin Ipl team was Indi Commandos which was widely hated by the cricket fans of kerala and the team officials were
forced to change its name to Kochi-Tuskers-Kerala.
The logo is also very much attractive from my point of view when compared to the one that was introduced for the Indi-Commandos.
The link for the kochin Ipl team is http://kochiteam.com/ where you can get all the latest updates regarding the team and match details.

The team franchise is owned by Kochi Cricket Pvt Ltd., which is a consortium of multiple companies. Rendezvous Sports World made the second highest bid of 1533.32 crores, and elected to base its team in Kochi.

The Shareholders of the Kochin Tuskers are,

Anchor Earth (31.4%)
Parinee Developers (30.6%)
Film Waves Combine (13.5%)
Anand Shyam (9.5%)
Vivek Venugopal (5%)
Rendezvous Sports World (10%)

The link for the kochin Ipl team is http://kochiteam.com/ where you can get all the latest updates regarding the team and match details.

So I am Waiting for my favourite Ipl team to lift up the Cup.
Cheer for Kochi-Tuskers-Kerala……………Hip Hip Hurray……………….
